#39 LESSON IN HOMER
Charles Reznikoff

A god could have brought the body of Hector back,
just as Phoebus kept it from decay,
but Priam had to get it himself;
so Pallas could have killed Hector easily,
but Achilles had to do it.

She would hand him his spear when he missed
but he had to throw it again.
